Brandon Nieves may be young, but he is wise in the ways of maintenance. Brandon is originally from Mexico, but grew up in San Diego. He has always liked making things, but worked hard to gain experience in the maintenance field. Brandon tries to learn new things every day and has been lucky to have been surrounded by good mentors to teach him. Still, there are times when neither Brandon nor his mentor know what to do. Brandon will face these challenges head on and figure out how to solve the problem at hand on the go – and all for the happiness of his guests. He doesn’t mind working hard because he knows that he can do whatever he sets his mind to and feels the reward when his guests are happy.

How did you get started in maintenance?
I worked before doing maintenance at a retirement home with over 200 units. I decided one day that I wanted a new job with new challenges, and I went out the next day and got it. I like doing maintenance with Beachfront Only because you can see how much it means to the guests. They’re on vacation, so they don’t want anything to go wrong. When it does, they’re happy that we can be there to help so quickly and take care of whatever issues they have. It’s all about how we work and communicate with them.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments?
I am proud that I’m able to accomplish my goals. Anything I set my mind to, I can do. In this job, it’s hard when there are challenges, but it makes me feel good to put my mind to it and get the job done.
What is one thing you wish people knew about your job?
I wish people knew that it’s not as easy as they think. Especially with our busy season in the summer, it gets hot and we work outside. Also, sometimes people try to do things the easy way, but then it’s probably not being done the right way. Even though it might take longer or be harder, doing things the right way will make them better in the end.
